Terms designed to protect the dog and set clear expectations for families.

Life circumstances change. This page explains what happens if a family can no longer keep their dog, how health-related concerns are handled, and how reservation fees work.

If you can no longer keep your dog

Our primary concern is the safety and wellbeing of the dog. Our sales agreement includes a return-to-breeder clause for this reason.

  • Contact Elite Canine Legacy before making any rehoming decisions.
  • Do not rehome, sell, or surrender the dog independently without breeder coordination.
  • Provide current veterinary records so we can assess the dog's health and plan appropriate next steps.
  • We will work with you to find a safe, suitable placement or take the dog back into our care.
  • This policy exists for the life of the dog, not just the first year.

Health-related concerns

If a health issue arises that may fall under the health guarantee, here is what to expect.

How to file a concern

  • Contact Elite Canine Legacy immediately when a concern appears
  • Obtain a diagnosis from a licensed veterinarian
  • Provide complete veterinary documentation including exam notes and test results
  • We will review the documentation and discuss resolution options with you

Resolution options

  • Replacement puppy from a current or future litter when available
  • Partial or full refund depending on the situation and documentation
  • Continued breeder support and guidance regardless of outcome
  • All resolutions handled per the written health guarantee terms

Reservation fees

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable once a puppy has been held for your placement.
  • Fees are applied toward the total placement price.
  • Transfers to a different puppy may be considered in writing, subject to availability and timing.
  • If Elite Canine Legacy cannot fulfill the placement, the reservation fee is fully refunded.
